Our GOLD Officier, Dr. Mak Pui In, has been selected as a 2009 recipient of the MGA GOLD Achievement Award2nd December, 2009 Dr. Mak Pui In, our GOLD Officier, has been selected as a 2009 recipient of the MGA GOLD Achievement Award. The selection was made by the MGA Awards and Recognition Committee and approved by the IEEE MGA Board during its 21 November 2009 meeting. This is a very prestigious award to honor Dr. Mak for the outstanding contributions he has made to numerous IEEE activities and the example he set in carrying forward the goals and objectives of the IEEE MGA Board. This award consists of a cash prize of US$250 and a plaque. Formation of IEEE Macau Section Solid-State Circuits Society Chapter12th June, 2009 The IEEE Macau Section Solid-State Circuits Society Chapter (IEEE geo-code: CH10484) has been approved by IEEE Headquarters and formed. The effective date of this Chapter formation is 12th June 2009. Prof. U Seng Pan have been recorded as Chapter Chair. This is the 3rd IEEE Chapter in Macau. We are on the Top of the world!26th May, 2009 Prof. Rui Martins, Prof. U Seng Pan, Prof. Tam Kam Weng and Dr. Mak Pui In have spared no efforts in the development of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Macao Chapter. In recognition of their contributions to promoting academic and technological development in the related fields in the past year, such as organization of IEEE flagship conferences, distinguished lectures by well-known scholars, technical seminars and membership development, IEEE CASS honored the Macao Chapter with the 2009 CASS Chapter-of-the-Year Award. IEEE CASS is one of the oldest and largest societies in IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - the largest professional association in the world with more than 350,000 members), with more than one hundred well-established chapters around the world. This year, 13 chapters were nominated for the award. The conferral ceremony was held during the flagship conference of the society - ISCAS 2009 on May 26th in the Grand Hotel of Taipei, Taiwan where the President of the IEEE CAS Society, Prof. Dave J. Allstot, University of Washington, Seattle, USA, bestowed the award on Prof. Rui Martins, Macao Chapter Chair for 2008. After being elected as the Vice President for Region 10 of CASS for the period from 2009 to 2010, Prof. Rui Martins resigned from his post as CASS Macao Chapter Chair in 2009 and was succeeded by Prof. Seng-Pan U.
